Hom\u00e8re fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 Cyth\u00e8re dans son po\u00e8me \u00e9pique \u00abL\u2019Iliade\u00bb, tandis que d\u2019autres \u00e9crivains grecs anciens associent fortement la d\u00e9esse Aphrodite \u00e0 l\u2019\u00eele, en l\u2019appelant Aphrodite Cyth\u00e9r\u00e9e (Acyth\u00e9ros est une personne d\u00e9pourvue de tout attrait et attraction). Isidore, d\u2019autre part, pr\u00e9tend que l\u2019\u00eele a \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9e d\u2019apr\u00e8s l\u2019 Aphrodite Cyth\u00e9r\u00e9e et non l\u2019inverse. Il est le tout premier qui explique le sens du verbe \u00abkeftho\u00bb et le relie \u00e0 l\u2019\u00eele et \u00e0 la d\u00e9esse. \u00abKeftho\u00bb signifie cacher l\u2019Amour, car ceux qui font l\u2019amour sur l\u2019\u00eele de Cyth\u00e8re d\u00e9couvrent leur passion cach\u00e9e. D\u2019autres \u00e9crivains importants de l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9, comme H\u00e9rodote, Dionysos, Aristote et X\u00e9nophon, mentionnent l\u2019existence d\u2019une \u00eele nomm\u00e9e Cyth\u00e8re dans leurs travaux.<\/p>\n

3. Faits mythologiques<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\nSelon la mythologie grecque, la naissance d\u2019Aphrodite a d\u00e9fini l\u2019avenir de l\u2019\u00eele. Dans la Th\u00e9ogonie de Hesiod, lorsque Cronus castrera Uranus (Ciel), ses organes g\u00e9nitaux tomb\u00e8rent dans les eaux de Cyth\u00e8re et, des mousses marines, Aphrodite \u00e9mergea. Puis les courants marins l\u2019ont conduite \u00e0 Paphos, \u00e0 Chypre, o\u00f9 la d\u00e9esse a \u00e9t\u00e9 v\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e et d\u00e9clar\u00e9e d\u00e9esse-patronne de l\u2019\u00eele. Selon la mythologie grecque, la naissance d\u2019Aphrodite a d\u00e9fini l\u2019avenir de l\u2019\u00eele. Dans la Th\u00e9ogonie de Hesiod, lorsque Cronus castrera Uranus (Ciel), ses organes g\u00e9nitaux tomb\u00e8rent dans les eaux de Cyth\u00e8re et, des mousses marines, Aphrodite \u00e9mergea. Puis les courants marins l\u2019ont conduite \u00e0 Paphos, \u00e0 Chypre, o\u00f9 la d\u00e9esse a \u00e9t\u00e9 v\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e et d\u00e9clar\u00e9e d\u00e9esse-patronne de l\u2019\u00eele.
